SparkPeople.com

Sparkpeople.com is an awesome place for logging your food intake and your exercise. I started using Sparkpeople after getting very frustrated with Fitday.

What I really like about Sparkpeople is that has a huge database and if you can’t find something in main database, you can import foods from other users. You also have the ability to edit the imported foods. I really like this functionality, because I find that sometimes people have put the information with incorrect data or they haven’t defined a serving with an actual measure (grams is my preferred method of measuring my food intake since it’s more accurate than standard measurements).

Sparkpeople  also allows you to log your cardio and weight training exercises without it affecting your your intake numbers (something that The Daily Plate does – the Daily Plate will give you back your numbers – not something you really want if you are trying to maintain a deficit). And you can take your food and exercise information and create either a file to print out or a file for export into Excel or some other spreasheet software.

Sparkpeople also allows you to track other goals and has message boards that you can participate in. You can send e-mails to other people and also create blog entries in the Sparkpeople community section. It also have a wide variety of articles on related to health and fitness and a good number of videos that demonstrate various exercises.

Since I travel for my job on occassion, I also like the fact that I have access to it from anywhere I am in the United States.

So if you’re looking for a free place to log your health and fitness activities, Sparkpeople is the best place that I have found.
